Because it is a multidisciplinary journal, there is an incredibly long form with many fields not applicable to your study, yet they must all be addressed to submit. Some back and forth required if this is not done correctly. Slow turn around time. Would benefit from some sort of "select study type" dropdown that would auto create a form with only the relevant fields

Quick to submit, no extra hoops to jump through before peer review

Multiple rounds of submitting summaries, making adjustments and edits before a decision to send the manuscript to peer review was made. COI forms had to be sent by email to the editor (again, prior to peer review). Lots of extra work if the manuscript is not eventually accepted
